Training Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand what domestic violence is, including its different forms and impact in a workplace context.
- Be aware of the entitlements under Domestic Violence Leave as outlined in the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023.
- Identify who qualifies as a “relevant person” under the legislation.
- Understand how the leave is applied for and processed within the workplace.
- Recognise the warning signs of domestic violence and how it may manifest in employee behaviour or performance.
- How to approach conversations with caution, empathy and confidence when an employee discloses domestic violence.
- Clarify employee responsibilities in the process, including communication and documentation.
- Implement supportive measures and signpost available resources and services.
- Develop workplace policies to ensure they are trauma-informed, compliant, and effective.
